This event recap is embarrassingly delayed, as Emily and I indulged in this fun event back at the beginning of November, but better late than never for some fun pictures and possibly some introductions to some great brands. The event was hosted by Well and Good NYC, a Green Lifestyle blog that we love. The event featured makeup from W3LL People (which you know we’re obsessed with), Yarok Hair Care, and skincare from One Love Organics.
The most amazing part of this event was that the founders of the three brands were all there to talk about their products and give you personal tips and tricks.
Thanks to Suzanne Leroux of One Love Organics (a skincare line that I can’t wait to try–her story is so inspiring), I now have a new method for applying any face cream to my skin (hint–press, don’t rub!). Click here to watch the brief video of her demonstrating how to apply their Skin Savior cleanser/moisturizing balm (truly a do-it-all product) when using it before applying makeup. This “press, press, press” technique should be used for applying all moisturizers and serums, she explains. Plus, her sweet southern drawl just makes me immediately trust anything she says!
Finally, after our beautiful W3LL People makeup was applied with precision by the talented makeup artists, and we received skincare consultations from One Love Organics, it was on to the experts at Yarok for some hair styling tips.
All of the products used at the event were on sale, so of course Emily and I had to treat ourselves to a couple of items (perhaps also had something to do with the free-flowing champagne and lack of food–not complaining…champagne is the perfect shopping partner!). I chose two products that I had been needing for a while and found it difficult to find effective all-natural replacements for: an eyeliner pencil and brow color. Hypnotist Eyeliner and Capitalist Brow Pigment in Matte Auburn, both from W3LL People, came to my rescue. I had trouble finding an eyeliner pencil that had a smooth application and stayed put. W3LL People’s fits the bill–just wish they had more colors to choose from! Currently the only color available is black, which as one of the makeup artists told me, “is like a little black dress for your eyes.” I was also delighted to find an eyebrow powder that was the right color. I was having trouble replacing my Bobbi Brown eyebrow powder because I couldn’t find a natural looking color that didn’t verge on orange or red for some strange reason. Happy to end the search now that I’ve found this beautiful brow powder that makes my sparse eyebrows more defined and not clownish. Cheers to that!
